Lake County officials voted in February 2010 to rename the county courthouse at 15 W. 4th Avenue in Gary after Justice Robert D. Rucker. The judge grew up and practiced law in Gary, and also served as a Lake County deputy prosecutor before being named to the Indiana Court of Appeals in 1991, and subsequently to the state Supreme Court in 1999.
