Scope and contents
This notebook was purchased by Chief Justice Randall Shepard from an Indianapolis bookseller who had a small collection of material from Justice Curtis Shake.
The notebook comprises a clipping file of cases decided by the Indiana Supreme Court from 1941 to 1945. Following the collection of newspaper clippings (each hand annotated with the date and legal citation) is a handwritten alphabetical index arranged by the name of the first party. Each index entry contains the full case name, the name of the justice who authored the opinion, and the date it was handed down.
This notebook was maintained in Justice Shake's chambers, presumably by his secretary.
